This work consists of two parts: a narrative video and an interactive machine learning module. It uses the image of the potato to bridge the themes of human civilization's transformation and the limitations of machine perception. The first part presents a "potato's monologue" through a collage of footage combined with AI-generated images and sound, tracing the potato’s journey from farmland to art museum, from a humble staple to a high-end design object. In the second part, a machine learning system watches and identifies the video content in real time. Code-like labels float ghost-like across the screen, symbolizing how, despite its diligent efforts to label everything it sees, the machine ultimately fails to grasp the richness and depth of human civilization.
